Retaining Walls in Rock Hill & York County, SC
Engineered block and natural stone walls that hold a slope for decades, not seasons.
Get a Free EstimateA wall is a drainage structure that happens to hold soil
Retaining walls fail for one reason far more often than any other: water. Hydrostatic pressure behind a wall with no drainage will push it over regardless of how good the blocks look.
Every wall we build gets a compacted base, clean drainage stone behind the face, a perforated drain pipe with an outlet, and geogrid reinforcement where the height and load require it. That is what separates a 30-year wall from a 5-year wall.
Segmental Block
Engineered modular block systems in a range of colours and textures.
Natural Stone
Dry-stacked and mortared natural stone walls for a softer, older look.
Geogrid Reinforcement
Soil reinforcement layers built into the backfill on taller and loaded walls.
Drainage Behind
Clean stone, filter fabric and perforated drain pipe with a real outlet.
Tiered Walls
Stepped walls that break a tall slope into usable terraces.
Steps & Caps
Integrated steps, capstones and lighting so the wall is part of the design.

Frequently asked questions
When does a retaining wall need engineering?
Generally above about 4 feet in exposed height, or any height carrying a surcharge such as a driveway, pool or slope above it. We build to that standard and tell you when it applies.
Why did my old wall lean or bulge?
Almost always no drainage behind it, no base compaction, or no geogrid where it was needed. Water pressure does the rest. Rebuilding correctly is usually cheaper than repeated repairs.
Block or natural stone?
Engineered block is stronger for its cost, easier to build to spec and available in many finishes. Natural stone costs more and looks better in a naturalistic setting.
How long do retaining walls last?
A properly built, properly drained segmental wall should last decades. The failures we see are almost never the block wearing out.
