Fireplace or fire pit?
A fireplace gives you a focal wall, better wind shelter and privacy screening, at a much higher cost. A fire pit is cheaper, seats more people around it, and moves the group together rather than facing one wall.
Gas or wood?
Gas lights instantly, produces no smoke or ash and needs a supply line. Wood costs less to install, gives more heat and the crackle people actually want. Some clients install both.
How close can a fire feature be to my house or deck?
There are clearance requirements, and they matter — especially near timber decks and vinyl siding. We site it to code and to common sense.
Do outdoor fireplaces need a permit?
Masonry fireplaces with a chimney usually do. Simple wood-burning fire pits usually do not. Gas connections have their own requirements. We handle it.
