Get a Free EstimateStructure first, planting second
York County clay, rolling lots and heavy summer storms are hard on a yard. Getting the hardscape right — walls that hold, grades that fall the right way, drainage that moves water off your foundation — is what makes the soft landscaping worth planting.
We build the structure and the planting as one project, so the finished yard drains, holds and looks the way it was drawn.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my yard hold water?
Usually a combination of clay subsoil, a flat or reversed grade near the house, and downspouts dumping straight onto the ground. Fixing it is a drainage and regrading job, not a planting job.
How tall can a retaining wall be before it needs engineering?
As a rule of thumb, walls over about 4 feet, or any wall carrying a load above it such as a driveway, need engineered design. We build to that standard and tell you upfront when it applies.
Do you do landscaping without hardscaping?
Yes. We will happily take on sod, beds, grading and lighting on their own. We just check the drainage first so we are not planting into a puddle.
What is the difference between hardscape and landscape?
Hardscape is everything solid: walls, patios, walkways, steps and masonry. Landscape is the living part: turf, trees, shrubs and beds. Most good yards need both, planned together.
